module 3

The past days I worked o non module 3 from the Creative Sketchbook’. I photographed all the exercises and wrote a synopsis from how and why I did some exercises a certain way.
I’m curious to hear what Edwinna and the Kemshalls will say.

For now I will go back on the challenge since the next faze was posted past week.
This was the last stage :
I first had to ‘sacrifice’ me. Since I needed the wrapping from chocolate candies....
One word : DELICIOUS
Then I began to sew to work of the extra calories…
The foils were sewed in an instant.
details...

Some one (Ellen Lindner) asked for some detail pictures from ‘Marseille V L’Estaque”.
I’m glad to show them :

For now I’m doodling a bit.
I have a new idea I want to work out but before I show you anything I want play a bit with this idea.

Papers

Worked a little on my “Creative Sketchbooks” exercises.
I made some painted papers. I used – for this time- brown parcel paper and inspired me – for the colours - on this animal picture :
This is the result :
Every couple of pictures is a before and after picture.

That’s all I did since I finished “Marseille V”. I feel a bit lost for now. I was thinking that I would be able to start/continue some sewing project but the contrary is true. I have to empty my head from the “Marseille V” and then reload my batteries for a next project !
We’ll see !

Tomorrow I go to Bruges with my youngest for the open school day and I will take my camera with. The school where she goes is a fantastic huge old “house building” with some wonderful arcades and an inside garden.

Finished

I’m proud to announce you the finishing of “Marseille V L’Estaque”
I slightly changed the subtitle : “Sur les traces de Braque en juin 2008”
Due to the heavy quilting, I need to block it a little bit.
This was the first time I worked with an architecture theme and it taste like
“I want more of it’.

Next project is one of my UFO’s : my crazy hearts.
I already embellished some parts some time ago and I want to finish it.
Sharon Bogon made me want to do some hand embroidery again.

I also want to finish the third module from my City and Guild ‘creative sketchbooks’ and be able to send it to Linda Kemshall .

DH and me are married for 23 years since Sunday. Can’t believe it ! Those years went in a minute !

Not finished yet

I so hoped I would have finished “Marseille L’Estaque” but no, I didn’t finish.
I wished I had some more hours in my days but ...
it’s the same rules for everybody : 24 hours, not a second more !
This was the picture I took Sunday afternoon, the main quilting was done.

A detail :

The only thing I had to do was the quilting in the border.
This is taking ages to quilt :

The border I already quilted took 3 hours to quilt :
it’s a little – when I say little, I mean little ! - circular pattern.

The end is near !

Quilting

When I’m machine quilting I always use these gloves :
Every time I try to quilt without those I have some problems.
Those gloves are sticking on my work and make my work easier.
My arms and shoulders don’t hurt too much.
Those saying that machine quilting is easy and quick are wrong !

This is a detail of the quilting I’ve already done :
And a detail from the back of my work :
I took this blue fabric because it was the exact colour of the sky when we were in L’Estaque.
I hope to finish the quilting this Sunday.
I will call this work : “ à la recherche de G. Braque”

Eating

Those last days I had the impression that all I did was eating !
We have spend 2 days with friends in Brussels and we went to a Thai restaurant.
The food was more that excellent. I sadly forgot my camera…so : no pictures.
Yesterday evening we went eating Tapas and ‘fusion’ with some very nice wines – 5 different wines -. Since I do not like to mix wines too much, I stopped after the white wine. I wanted to be human today and hate it to have a hangover.
I didn’t sleep enough but at least I don’t have a headache.

As I was cleaning a closet I found an old work.
It is a mini embroidered Baltimore.
And 2 details :

This was a fun work to realize !
I remember I spend at least half an hour for the making of each little flower shown above. This little work will have a place back in one of the bedrooms.
I hope I will have the possibility to quilt a bit ‘Marseille L’Estaque’ tomorrow because we have to go to a restaurant (yes, eating again) with clients in the evening.
And don’t laugh : Friday we will be out eating with friends.
Next week, the only food I will take, will be nature yoghurt !
